  4. LSORTOS2 consists of two sort utilities, LSRTOS2 and LSORTOS2 as well as
  5. object code for LSORTOS2.
  6.  
  7. LSRTOS2 is a replacement for the SORT command.  It runs on IBM PCs and
  8. compatibles with at least 16MB and a fixed disk.  It will sort MSDOS
  9. ASCII files on 1 to 16 sort fields.  The file to be sorted must contain
  10. variable length records ending with cr/lf.  It is written using large
  11. model and will sort files of up 16000 records that will fit into
  12. memory.

  14. LSORTOS2 is a full function sort program that will sort and merge on 32 fields.
  15. Each field may be a character string, a binary number or a floating point
  16. numbers.  LSORTOS2 sorts or merges files that are larger than memory, dBase II
  17. and dBase III files.  LSORTOS2 allows user exits for customized applications.

  19. A Visual Basic front end to LSORTOS2 is included.  The Visual Basic run
  20. time library is needed to run the front end.  It is not included, but
  21. is available on CompuServ and other BBS's.  See LSORTOS2.DOC for
  22. installation instructions.

  25. there is no charge or other consideration and this notice is not removed or
  26. bypassed.

  52. The 32 bit Microsoft Windows NT version uses the Visual C++ for NT Compiler.
  53. The 32 bit IBM OS2 2.X version requires uses the IBM CSet 2 Compiler.

  55. The programs have been modified to provide a better display of the process of
  56. a sort/merge operation, reporting in % completion.  A long sort operation now
  57. reports status instead of running quietly, looking like a hung computer.

  60. given the option of selecting another drive.

  63. contents of the input and output files in Hex as well as Text.

  71. Extracting LSORT

  73. This disk contains either one EXE file which is a self extracting LHA
  74. file, or a .ZIP file.  Run the EXE to extract all executables, object
  75. for LSORT, LSORTOS2.MAK, LSORTOS2.DOC for LSORT and descriptive text.  If
  76. you have received the .ZIP file, use PKUNZIP to extract all files.
